Jedi
Jedi the cat was caught in the Casa Abandonada colony with his six siblings and his mum, who was later neutered and set free in the same area. When Jedi was sheltered, he had already gone blind and had a severe eye infection on account of a disease named coryza.
Some people pressured us to euthanize the little kitten, not only because it would be impossible to restore his eyesight, but also because our investment in his treatment meant losing a big share of our neutering fund at the time.
However, our choice was made and Jedi underwent surgery to remove both his eyes. This kitten’s post-operation recovery went very well and soon Jedi was running about and playing just like any other kitten his age. We thought it would be hard to find someone willing to adopt a blind kitty, but we were pleasantly surprised when receiving an e-mail from Sónia, who had already adopted Muki, a dog waiting to be put to sleep in the municipal kennel. Sónia had fallen in love with our little Jedi.
Today, Sónia, Muki and Jedi are a very happy family, as one can see in the pictures. :-)
